Care team and the blocklist
This page is for coordinators and registered managers. It covers the “Care team” card on the “Care team” tab: the preferred order and the never assign list.
The card’s line reads “Who this client prefers, in order, and who must never be sent to them.” Support workers do not see this card.
Preferred workers
Section titled “Preferred workers”The preferred list is the order the rota tries to fill this client’s visits in. First choice first.
Adding someone
Section titled “Adding someone”- Under “Preferred workers”, click “Add a worker…”.
- Type a few letters of their name.
- Choose them from the list.
Anyone already on the preferred or the never assign list is not offered again.
Changing the order
Section titled “Changing the order”Use the up and down arrows beside a name. Each click swaps them with their neighbour and saves at once.
Changing the order does not move anyone on the rota by itself. A notice appears saying “The rota has suggestions for this order.” with two buttons:
- “Review rota changes” opens the suggestion, “Update the rota to the new preferred order”. Open places get the new first choice, and someone on a visit who now ranks lower is swapped where a higher choice is free — as a “Fill open places” step and a “Swap people” step. Tick what you want and confirm.
- “Not now” leaves the rota alone. You can still reassign by hand.
Removing someone
Section titled “Removing someone”- Click “Remove” beside their name.
- The dialog asks “Remove from this list?” and says “They can still be assigned. They just lose their place in the preference order.”
- Click “Remove”.
Removing a preference is not a block. It only takes away their place in the order, and the rota offers to update itself to the shorter order.
Never assign
Section titled “Never assign”The “Never assign” list is a safeguarding control, not a preference.
- Under “Never assign”, click “Add a worker…”.
- Choose the person.
Why it is a hard stop
Section titled “Why it is a hard stop”A block is refused everywhere, not just on the screen where it was set. No manual assignment, no bulk operation such as copying a week or resetting it to templates, and no auto-fill can put that person with that client. The rota does not ask you to confirm past it and there is no override.
Blocking someone also takes them off this client’s upcoming visits. A suggestion opens straight away, headed “Fill the visits this block released”, so the places they held do not sit empty.
Removing a block
Section titled “Removing a block”- Click “Remove” beside their name.
- The dialog asks “Remove from this list?” and says “They become assignable to this client again.”
- Click “Remove”.
Only do this when the reason for the block has actually gone. The change is recorded under your name.
