Holidays

This page is for owners, admins and registered managers. It covers the dates the whole organisation stops, and what the rota does about visits already planned on them.

Find it under Settings, then Holidays.

These are organisation-wide closures, not one person’s time off. One person being away is leave.

Adding a holiday

Press Add holiday. The dialog asks for:

• Name, required. What the closure is called, for example a bank holiday.
• First day, required.
• Last day. Leave it blank for a single day.
• Recurring, a switch. Turn it on and choose how often: weekly, every two weeks, monthly or yearly.

Press Add holiday to save it.

What a holiday does

Once a date is covered by a holiday:

• No new visit can be planned on it. The platform refuses with “The organisation is on holiday then.”
• Recurring care schedules skip it, so nothing new is projected onto it.
• Leave arithmetic ignores it. A person’s leave is counted against your open days minus your holidays, so somebody on leave over a closure does not spend allowance on it.

Visits that were already planned

Closing a day does not quietly delete the visits already on it. That would be a silent change to a care record.

Instead, saving the holiday raises a rota suggestion, Cancel the visits on the closed day. The review dialog opens as soon as the add dialog closes, listing every visit on the newly closed dates. Untick anything you want to keep and confirm; the ticked visits are cancelled as one change you can take back.

If you close the dialog without confirming, the suggestion waits on your dashboard under Rota suggestions until you deal with it. It never applies itself. Rota suggestions covers how they work.

In the rota grid, a closed day carries a Closed badge.

Changing and removing

Each row has Edit and Remove.

Editing changes the name, the dates or how it repeats. Removing asks you to confirm: planning reopens for those dates, and recurring care schedules fill them back in.

Recurring holidays carry a badge showing how often they repeat. Past one-off holidays are dimmed but kept, because the rota’s history has to still make sense.
